Smart Call Logger accesses and stores call log information including:
- Phone numbers of incoming, outgoing, missed, rejected, and blocked calls
- Call duration and precise timestamps
- Call type (incoming, outgoing, missed, rejected, blocked)
- Contact names (if available in your device's contacts)
- Call log IDs for backup tracking
1.2 Device Accessibility Information
Our accessibility service monitors phone/dialer apps only to ensure comprehensive call detection:
- Call state changes from dialer applications
- Call-related notifications for missed call detection
- Interface events from phone apps for enhanced reliability
1.3 Google Drive Integration
When you enable Google Drive backup, we access:
- Your Google Drive storage (limited to app-specific folder)
- OAuth authentication tokens for secure access
- Backup file metadata (file IDs, timestamps)
2. How We Use Your Information
2.1 Primary Functions
- Display and organize your call history in a clean interface
- Provide real-time call monitoring with ContentObserver and Accessibility Service
- Create automatic backups to your personal Google Drive account
- Generate local backups when internet is unavailable
- Enable search and filtering of call logs by type, contact, and date
- Restore call monitoring after device reboot
2.2 Background Processing
- Monitor call logs continuously using background services
- Detect new calls immediately using accessibility service
- Upload call logs to Google Drive as JSON files
- Maintain local Room database for offline access
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Local Storage
All your call log data is stored locally on your device using Android's secure Room database. Your data includes:
- Call logs stored in encrypted SQLite database
- Backup status tracking for each call
- Google Drive file IDs for cloud backups
- Local backup files in app's private storage
3.2 Google Drive Backup (Optional)
When you enable Google Drive backup:
- Call logs are uploaded as individual JSON files to your personal Google Drive
- Files are stored in an app-specific folder ("SCL Backups")
- We only access your Google Drive through official Google Drive API
- You maintain full control and ownership of all backup files
- Backup can be disabled at any time through app settings
- Local fallback backups are created when internet is unavailable
3.3 Security Measures
- All data stored using Android's secure app sandbox
- Google Drive communication uses OAuth 2.0 authentication
- No data transmitted to third-party servers
- Background services use minimal permissions
- Accessibility service only monitors phone/dialer apps
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
4.1 No Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your call log data with any third parties. Your call logs remain private and are only stored:
- Locally on your device
- In your personal Google Drive account (if you enable backup)
4.2 Google Drive API
When using Google Drive backup:
- Data is sent directly to your Google Drive account
- Google's privacy policy applies to their storage service
- We do not have access to your Google Drive files
- You can revoke app access through Google account settings
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information only if required by law, including:
- Response to valid legal requests with proper jurisdiction
- Protection of our legal rights and safety
- Prevention of illegal activities
5. Your Rights and Choices
5.1 Data Control
You have complete control over your data:
- View all stored call logs within the app
- Delete individual call records or all data
- Enable or disable Google Drive backup at any time
- Export call logs before deletion
- Revoke accessibility service permission
- Stop background monitoring services
5.2 Google Drive Management
- Manage backup files directly in your Google Drive
- Delete cloud backups independently of local data
- Revoke app access through Google account settings
- Download JSON backup files for external use
5.3 Data Deletion
To delete all data:
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data
- Manually delete backup files from your Google Drive
- Revoke app permissions in device settings
- Disable accessibility service if enabled
6. Accessibility Service
Smart Call Logger uses Android's Accessibility Service to ensure 100% reliable call detection. Important details:
- Limited Scope: Only monitors phone/dialer applications
- Purpose: Detects call events for comprehensive logging
- No Data Access: Does not access content outside of call-related events
- User Control: Can be disabled in Android accessibility settings
- Compliance: Fully compliant with Google Play Store policies
- Transparency: Clear explanation provided during permission request
7. Children's Privacy
Smart Call Logger is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect call log information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
8. Third-Party Services
Smart Call Logger integrates with the following third-party services:
- Google Drive API: For optional cloud backup storage (your personal Google Drive)
- Google Play Services: For authentication and basic app functionality
- Android System Services: For call log access and accessibility features
No analytics or advertising services are used. No data is sent to external servers except your Google Drive.
9. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes through:
- App store update descriptions
- In-app notifications when available
- Updates on our website and repository
10. Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as:
- The app is installed on your device
- You have backup files in your Google Drive
- Required by law (no external storage, so this is minimal)
Local data is immediately deleted when you uninstall the app. Google Drive backups remain under your control.
